American White Ash

SCIENTIFIC NAME: fraxinus spp
ORIGIN: the sawnwood worked by FACOMA is the Northern ash, which comes mainly from regions bordering Canada
DENSITY: at an average moisture content of 12%, it has a specific weight of 673 kg / m3

White ash has generally a straight fibre with marked and homogeneous grains. Its natural light colour makes it a versatile wood during painting and widely used for the production of windows, shutters and doors.

The good workability of this wood, its great stability in humid conditions, in addition to its excellent reliability during the assembly phase, have strongly encouraged the use of white ash for the production of glued laminated timber.

FACOMA produces its glulam using a white ash sawnwood with light-coloured and slightly brown-grained heartwood, from the northern United States .
